Trump: Agreement clearly states Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons

Date:

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the nuclear deal clearly states that Iran must not obtain a nuclear weapon.

Speaking to reporters during the G7 summit in France, Trump said preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains his main priority.

“The only thing that really matters to me is that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon, and it says that loud and clear,” he said.

Strong warning issued to Tehran

Trump also issued a warning regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions, saying there would be severe consequences if the Iranian Government intended to obtain nuclear weapons.

“There will be hell to pay,” he said, referring to any potential effort by Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.

The remarks come amid ongoing international attention surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme and diplomatic discussions involving major world powers.
