Limited operation at the ski centre
The Troodos ski pistes are operating on a limited basis following the season’s first snowfall, which has brought increased visitor traffic and renewed interest in skiing.
Despite the improved winter scenery, conditions at the ski centre remain fluid, with piste availability changing frequently due to weather and safety concerns.
Temporary closure after safety incident
Although the first piste of the season initially opened, it was temporarily closed after 4×4 vehicles entered the skiing route, creating safety risks. As a result, only specific beginner-level areas are currently available for use.
Authorities are urging visitors to exercise caution both when travelling to the area and while using the facilities, as weather conditions in the mountains can change rapidly.
Which pistes are open
According to official information from the Cyprus Ski Federation, most of the main runs at the ski centre are currently not in operation.
Sun Valley I and II, along with the North Face pistes, remain closed due to insufficient snow coverage or safety reasons. Open runs are limited to areas mainly intended for beginners and children, including the Family Run SV 1 and the Sun Valley Baby Lift, which are used primarily for training and light snow activity.
Officials stress that the status of the Troodos ski pistes may change at any time, depending on snowfall and overall weather conditions.
Road access and driving conditions
Access to Troodos requires particular caution, especially during early morning hours or following snowfall and frost. In several parts of the mountain road network, four-wheel-drive vehicles or snow chains are necessary.
Authorities also remind the public that unnecessary vehicle movement within piste areas is strictly prohibited, as it poses risks to visitors and disrupts the safe operation of the ski centre.
