The President visiting Armenia for the European Political Community Summit

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will participate in the European Political Community Summit, which will take place on Monday in Yerevan. He departs today for the Armenian capital.

According to an official statement, this is the first time that Cyprus will take on a special role in a plenary session of the summit. In addition to delivering the opening remarks, President Christodoulides will also present the closing comments.

On the sidelines of the summit, he will hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and government, as well as leaders of international organizations.

During the summit proceedings, President Christodoulides will take part in and coordinate a plenary discussion on European security, alongside the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and the President of the European Commission.

It is noted that defense and security are key priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, with initiatives aimed at strengthening the EU’s deterrence capacity.

The President will also participate in a thematic discussion on European connectivity and economic security, as well as separate multilateral meetings on Moldova and on combating drug trafficking in Europe.

President Christodoulides will be accompanied in Yerevan by Deputy Government Spokesperson Giannis Antoniou, Deputy Director of his Diplomatic Office Nektarios Sotiriou, and other officials.
