The High Commission of India brought cinema and culture together

Date:

In a celebration dedicated to cinema, culture and international connection, the High Commission of India in Cyprus organised recently a special event under the title “Flavours of Bharat”, which showcased India’s cultural heritage while offering guests a first introduction to the upcoming Indian Film Festival, set to take place in the coming months.

Designed as more than a cultural gathering, the event highlighted the power of cinema as a bridge between peoples and underscored the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening ties between India and Cyprus. Guests had the opportunity to experience an evening inspired by the richness and diversity of India’s heritage, with the programme offering a curated introduction to the cultural and cinematic journey surrounding the upcoming festival.

During the event, trailers of six world-renowned Indian films — Padmaavat, Dangal, Andhadhun, War, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and RRR — were screened, followed by Indian dance performances, as well as an interactive AI corner, which gave attendees the opportunity to see themselves dressed in Indian Bollywood outfits with the help of artificial intelligence. It is worth noting that the screening of the first film will take place on May 9th  at Artos House.

By placing cinema within the broader framework of “Flavours of Bharat”, the High Commission of India in Cyprus highlighted how cultural expression can foster dialogue, deepen mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral relations. The upcoming Indian Film Festival is expected to offer audiences in Cyprus a unique opportunity to experience the diversity, creativity and enduring appeal of Indian cinema.
