Thank you, Beyoncé: most nominated artist in Grammy history

Date:

Beyoncé leads the 2025 Grammy Awards as the artist with the most nominations ever in the history of the awards, with a record-breaking 11 nominations. Her album, Cowboy Carter, a tribute to the African-American roots of country music, has made her the front-runner for this year’s ceremony on February 2, 2025, in Los Angeles. The album is nominated for Album of the Year, a first for her in the country category, while her track Texas Hold ‘Em is in contention for Song of the Year.

Beyoncé also earned her first nominations in the “Country” and “Americana” categories. If she wins Album of the Year, Beyoncé would become the first Black woman to do so in the 21st century, following Lauryn Hill’s win in 1999 for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Other artists receiving significant nominations include Post Malone, with his first country nominations, thanks to his debut country album F-1 Trillion, released in August. He follows closely behind Beyoncé with seven nominations, alongside Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Charli XCX. The trend of women dominating major Grammy categories continues, but this year brings more genre diversity, especially within the Album of the Year nominees.
