Thailand’s police force has introduced “AI Police Cyborg 1.0,” the country’s first artificial intelligence-powered police robot. The debut took place via a Facebook post a few days ago, with the robot making its first public appearance on Tonson Road in the Muang province.
Developed through a collaboration between the Provincial Police Command 7, Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police, and the Nakhon Pathom Municipality, the robot boasts several cutting-edge features. These include 360-degree AI-powered cameras with facial recognition, behaviour analysis, weapon detection, and alert systems for identifying wanted individuals.
According to the police, the robot’s video processing is advanced enough to distinguish between toy water guns and real firearms, as well as differentiate aggressive behaviour from friendly physical play. Some of its capabilities remain undisclosed, and from the released images, it appears the robot cannot yet walk independently.
The primary role of AI Police Cyborg 1.0 is to assist during large gatherings where police resources are stretched thin. The robot never tires, remains constantly vigilant, and is permanently connected to the regional command and control centre.
