Temperature drop, mountain rain – When dust will clear

Date:

Weak low pressure is affecting the area, with the weather forecast in Cyprus pointing to warm conditions today before a change arrives later in the week.

Periods of increased high cloud will affect the island today, while thin dust in the atmosphere is expected to clear soon. Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest, weak to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort and temporarily reaching strong levels of 4 to 5 Beaufort in some areas.

The sea will be slight to locally rough.

Temperatures will rise to 30C inland, around 29C along the south and east coasts, near 25C on the west and north coasts and around 21C in the higher mountains.

Cooler overnight conditions

Tonight, intervals of increased high cloud will continue across the island. Winds will remain mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, weak and at first locally moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The sea will stay calm to slightly rough.

Temperatures will drop to around 16C inland, near 18C on the coasts and around 14C in the higher mountains.

Rain and isolated storms expected

On Tuesday, periods of increased high cloud are expected again, with temperatures remaining close to seasonal averages.

The Cyprus weather outlook for Wednesday and Thursday points to more unsettled conditions. Skies will become mostly cloudy at times, with local showers expected and a chance of isolated thunderstorms around midday and early afternoon.

The weather system is expected to affect mainly mountainous areas and the eastern half of the island.

Temperatures will fall on Wednesday to below average climatic values, while no significant change is expected on Thursday.
