Takata airbags probe reaches advanced stage – Police collects statements

The investigation into the Takata airbags case is at an advanced stage and remains ongoing, police said on Monday.

Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Police Headquarters Communication Branch officer Michalis Michael said authorities are continuing their inquiries into the case involving defective Takata airbags.

Asked whether statements are still being taken, Michael confirmed that they are, adding that he does not have a specific number of remaining statements required before the investigation can be completed.

Investigation timeline remains unclear

“The information we have received is that the investigation into the case continues,” Michael said.

He added that authorities cannot, at this stage, provide further details regarding the evidence gathered so far or any possible additional instructions from the Law Office.

Regarding whether the investigation is expected to conclude soon, Michael said the completion date depends on the volume of work involved and the progress of the remaining investigative steps.

Authorities continue inquiries

The Takata airbags investigation has involved extensive police work following concerns over defective airbags installed in vehicles worldwide.

Police have not provided further details on the findings of the investigation while the process remains ongoing.
