Concluding our first summer schedule, STYX Film Encounters returns with the second open-air screening program “Boiling Points”. Every Monday at 8PM, from September 15th to September 29th we will watch films under the stars of the Home for Cooperation Café, hosting three films where characters, both literally and metaphorically, find themselves under heat – pushed to their limits, under pressure, and on the verge of eruption.
With Boiling Points, we turn to stories in which intensity cannot be contained and political tensions and social conflicts that reach the point of combustion. These films confront how heat exposes the cracks beneath the surface.
Each screening will follow after a short introduction.

What is STYX Film Encounters?
STYX Film Encounters is an initiative dedicated to fostering film education and appreciation through curated screenings, offering a shared roof for both young and veteran cinema lovers in Nicosia, Cyprus. We aim to present landmark films that stimulate not just the senses but also the mind. As the communal experience of cinema faces an existential threat from passive consumption through streaming, STYX seeks to restore and preserve the cinematic experience.
By drawing on the world’s rich cinematic heritage, we strive to create inclusive spaces where people can engage with film on a deeper level. The classics don’t belong solely to the past—cinema has always pushed boundaries, provoked thought, and unearthed truths about the human condition. These truths retain their resonance throughout time, and deserve to be experienced as intended: in a shared space, on the big screen.
