Dias unveils park honouring Andis Hadjicostis

Date:

Authorities in Strovolos held the inauguration and naming ceremony of the municipal park “Andis Hadjicostis Park”, a new green space created to honour the memory and contribution of Andis Hadjicostis.

Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou officiated the ceremony, saying he could not be absent from a modest event that once again honours “a remarkable and selfless man and a true friend”. He added that although Hadjicostis died prematurely and unjustly, his presence remains in people’s thoughts and hearts.

Ceremony held with state and media representatives

The Municipality of Strovolos organised the event in cooperation with the Dias Media Group, with representatives of the state, local government and the media in attendance.

Strovolos Mayor Stavros Stavrinides said Hadjicostis embodied values the municipality seeks to defend, leaving behind both an irreplaceable void and a lasting legacy. He described the park not only as a green space but also as a monument to a distinguished man whose memory will endure.

Park dedicated to memory, recreation and community

The park lies on Andis Hadjicostis Street, near the Archangelos Avenue roundabout, and now opens to the public as a space for recreation, greenery and remembrance.

Dias and Sigma CEO Chrysanthos Tsouroullis said the park stands beside the place where the organisation’s daily journalistic journey continues. He stressed that the site symbolises that memory does not fade, violence does not prevail and ideas cannot be murdered. He added that for Dias Media Group and Sigma Television, Andis Hadjicostis “was never and will never be the past”.

The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the park’s naming plaque.
