A weak high-pressure system currently affects Cyprus, but the low-pressure system named “Erminio”, centred over Sicily, is moving east and is expected to influence the wider region from Wednesday onwards.
Clear skies at first, clouds and rain later
Today, the weather will initially be mostly clear, although temporary cloudiness is expected in western and northern areas. Gradually, skies will become partly to mostly cloudy, with a chance of isolated showers, especially in the mountains. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to westerly, light to moderate at 3–4 Beaufort, and seas will range from calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 21°C inland and along southeast coasts, about 20°C along other coastal areas, and near 10°C at higher elevations.
Tonight, temporary cloudiness will continue. Winds will shift to mainly northwesterly to northeasterly, light at 3 Beaufort, with seas calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 7°C inland, 11°C along western coasts, 9°C along other coasts, and 4°C in the high mountains.
Rain, storms, and dust from Wednesday
From Wednesday, skies will become cloudy, with local rain showers and isolated thunderstorms expected until Thursday afternoon. Dust may be present in the atmosphere at times. On Friday, partly increased cloudiness is anticipated. Temperatures will rise until Thursday, followed by a slight drop on Friday, remaining near seasonal averages.
Snow height at Chionistra was recorded at 1 cm at the time of the bulletin.
