Stabbing in Larnaca: 29-year-old arrested, 26-year-old critical

Police in Larnaca have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a stabbing incident that left a 26-year-old European national critically injured.

According to the Larnaca Police Department, the incident occurred at around 8:00pm on Sunday, 10 August, when authorities received a report of an injured man on Zakynthou Street in Larnaca.

Police patrols and members of the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID) quickly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area to secure evidence.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim had sustained a knife wound and was transported to Larnaca General Hospital. The 26-year-old was conscious during his transfer, and his condition is described as serious but stable.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect, a 29-year-old African national, was located shortly after the attack. Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, he was taken into custody. He is expected to appear before Larnaca District Court today for a remand order.

The Larnaca CID is currently investigating the circumstances and possible motives behind the stabbing.
