Severe weather leaves parts of Nicosia without power – Municipalities and EAC crews mobilised

Date:

Severe weather that struck Cyprus last Saturday (29/08) left behind widespread problems, with several areas of Nicosia still experiencing power outages.

According to Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) spokesperson Christina Papadopoulou, the damage caused by Saturday’s severe weather was extensive, with EAC crews continuing work to restore the electricity supply. Crews from other districts have also been deployed to assist in Nicosia.

Among the problems reported was the collapse of an EAC electricity pole in Lakatamia, affecting the power supply and causing problems on several roads in the area.

Papadopoulou said Lakatamia Municipality is expected to proceed with the installation of concrete in order to address the problem.
