The search for 75-year-old Erato Athanasiou is continuing intensively in the Kampos Tis Tsakkistras area after she went missing at around 11am on Sunday, 23 August.
Speaking to SigmaLive, community leader Christodoulos Orphanides said he met with police on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing search.
Police, residents and drones join search
Orphanides said efforts to locate the missing woman are in full swing, with both authorities and local residents taking part.
Drones are also being used to search the area.
The community borders an extensive forested area, making the operation more difficult, according to Orphanides.
Community leader appeals for help
Orphanides appealed through SigmaLive for anyone with connections to Kampos Tis Tsakkistras who is able to help to travel to the area and assist in efforts to find Athanasiou.
“Everyone is standing by us. Perhaps the Virgin Mary will lend a helping hand,” he said.
