“Sandy” case: FBI receives briefing and gets to work

Date:

A team from the Federal Bureau of Investigation is set to meet today in Nicosia with the Chief of Police and officers handling the high-profile “Sandy” case. The case has drawn significant attention, prompting authorities to seek international support.

Focus on evidence assessment

According to the state broadcaster, the role of the American agency will not involve direct investigative duties. Instead, the FBI team will focus on evaluating witness testimony and evidence already collected as part of the case.

Officials expect that the expertise of the FBI delegation will help accelerate the examination process and provide valuable insights into the material gathered so far.

Cyprus retains full control

Despite the FBI’s involvement, authorities have made it clear that the final handling of the case remains exclusively under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Cyprus. The assistance provided is strictly supportive, with local law enforcement maintaining full responsibility for the investigation.
