The immediate transmission of the report by the Independent Authority Against Corruption and the final inspection report of investigating officers to the Police and the Council of Ministers was decided by the members of the Law Office’s Prosecutorial Council.
The move aims to enable the fastest possible initiation of a criminal investigation into potential offences related to the book “State Mafia”.
According to an announcement by the Attorneys General of the Republic, the two reports, along with minutes and supporting evidence, were delivered to the Law Office on 22 June 2026.
Decision follows key legal developments
The Prosecutorial Council took into account the decision of the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General to abstain from handling the case and assign it to the Council.
It also considered the Cabinet’s intention to appoint independent criminal investigators under Article 4 of the Criminal Procedure Law.
Authorities further noted the announcement by the Independent Authority Against Corruption, the strong public interest surrounding the case, and the need to safeguard the proper functioning of institutions and the administration of justice.
Full reports passed on without assessment
Based on these considerations, the Council decided to forward both reports in full, along with all accompanying documents, to the Police and the Council of Ministers.
The purpose is to initiate procedures for investigating potential criminal offences that may arise from the findings.
The Law Office stated that, at this stage, and in order to preserve procedural objectivity, both reports are being transmitted without further evaluation.
Officials added that a broad criminal investigation should be conducted into all possible offences that may emerge from the findings.
