April rainfall in Cyprus has already exceeded the monthly average, reaching 127% within just the first ten days of April, according to preliminary data from the Department of Meteorology.
Between April 1 and April 10 at 09:00, the average total rainfall reached 37.9mm, compared to the normal monthly average of 29.9mm.
Most areas exceed monthly average
April rainfall figures show that nearly all regions recorded above-average precipitation levels.
Only four areas across the island did not surpass 100% of the normal rainfall for April, highlighting the widespread nature of the wet conditions.
Daily rainfall and highest readings
During the 24 hours between April 9 and April 10, average rainfall reached 2.0mm.
The highest daily rainfall was recorded in Stavros tis Psokas, where 8.5mm of rain was measured.
Regional rainfall breakdown
Looking at the April rainfall in Cyprus by region (April 1–10, 09:00):
- Stavros tis Psokas: 57.2mm (67% of normal)
- Prodromos: 53.6mm (97%)
- Platania: 51.9mm (132%)
- Pano Panagia: 47.9mm (73%)
These figures indicate significant rainfall accumulation across multiple regions, with some areas already exceeding their typical monthly totals.
Wetter-than-usual start to April
April rainfall trend suggests a notably wetter-than-usual start to the month, with rainfall totals surpassing expectations early.
Meteorological authorities are expected to continue monitoring conditions as the month progresses.
