Rain and isolated storms expected today- areas affected

Date:

A partly cloudy and at times cloudy day is expected across Cyprus on Thursday, with local rain and isolated storms, initially in the west and north and gradually extending to other areas. The weather phenomena will soon weaken significantly.

Winds will blow mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, initially light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, strengthening later to moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, and occasionally very strong, up to 6 Beaufort.

Temperatures will reach around 24°C inland, 27°C on the south-eastern coast, 25°C on other coastal areas, and 12°C in the higher mountains.

According to the Department of Meteorology, a low-pressure system centred over the Black Sea is affecting the region, with weak low pressure gradually prevailing locally.

Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, though increased cloud cover is expected at times, especially over the western half of the island. Winds will remain south-westerly to north-westerly but will gradually weaken to light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough in the west and north and calm to slightly rough elsewhere. Temperatures will fall to around 14°C inland, 17°C on the coasts, and 9°C in the higher mountains.

On Friday, locally increased cloud is expected at intervals.
Saturday and Sunday will be mostly fine, with occasional clouds.

Temperatures will rise gradually through Saturday and remain steady on Sunday, staying just below the seasonal average.
