The Turkish Cypriot administration approved new property permits for 297 foreign nationals in the occupied areas on Monday, while also amending existing permits for 22 other people.
Permits approved under foreign property rules
According to the Turkish Cypriot press, the decision was taken at a “cabinet” meeting on 5 October under the so-called law governing the acquisition and long-term leasing of immovable property by foreign nationals.
The approvals were subject to the condition that the properties concerned are classified as “free” under the applicable rules.
The “cabinet” also approved changes to the terms of property permits previously granted to 22 foreign nationals.
Citizenship revoked from one woman
At the same time, the so-called Official Gazette published a decision to revoke the “citizenship” of a woman born in 1999 in Bor, Niğde Province, Turkey.
The woman had been granted the “citizenship” in August 2017. The cabinet decided to remove it under Article 13 of the so-called citizenship law.
The decisions were reported by the Turkish Cypriot electronic press and published in the relevant official records.
