Preventive checks by authorities – drugs, knives and arrests

Police continued targeted preventive operations last night with boosted presence in urban hotspots to avert serious crimes, protect citizens, and maintain public order. Over 450 vehicles stopped, 600+ people checked, and 38 premises inspected to deter violations. Traffic controls yielded 129 violations, 19 DUI arrests, and 10 vehicle seizures for road offenses.

Operations form part of a broad, ongoing police plan with heightened visibility, targeted checks, and swift action across provinces to prevent crime and boost safety.

Arrests for drugs and weapons

In Nicosia, 25- and 27-year-olds arrested after vehicle check uncovered small drug quantity. Paphos saw 39-year-old nabbed for similar possession. Another Paphos vehicle stop led to 34-year-old’s arrest in Nicosia province after two knives found inside.

Stolen goods and warrants

Paphos home raid seized electronics (laptops, phones, tablets, watch); 45-year-old man and 33-year-old woman arrested for unsatisfactory origin explanations. Paphos warrant arrest of 36-year-old aids probe into threats and illegal weapon possession.
