Preliminary ATA agreement to be signed today

Date:

A preliminary ATA agreement will be signed at the Presidential Palace at 14:00 today, the government confirmed on Thursday morning. The announcement signals the first concrete step toward resolving the long-running dispute over the cost-of-living allowance.

Meeting with union leaders earlier today

Government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said in a post on X that President Nikos Christodoulides met this morning with the heads of the trade union organisations ahead of the scheduled signing.

“Today at 14:00 a meeting will take place at the Presidential Palace for the signing of the preliminary ATA agreement by the social partners,” Letymbiotis wrote.

Long-running issue finally moving forward

The development marks a significant shift after months of negotiations and public tension, following strike action earlier this year. While the ATA agreement to be signed today is only preliminary, it represents the closest the parties have come to a settlement since discussions began.

Further details of the agreement and its implementation are expected to be announced after the signing ceremony.
