Police operations yield 8 arrests, 142 complaints filed

The Cyprus Police intensified patrols last night, conducting organised operations in key urban areas. The initiative aimed to prevent serious crimes, maintain public order, and enhance public safety.

Arrests and preventive actions

The operations resulted in the arrest of eight individuals for offences including grievous bodily harm, illegal residence, illegal possession of property, and possession of an offensive weapon. Authorities also stopped and checked 514 drivers and passengers during the night.

Inspections of properties

Police carried out 26 inspections of premises to tackle criminal activity. The proactive approach targeted hotspots of potential criminal behaviour.

Traffic violations

Traffic officers issued 142 citations for various traffic offences, while investigating four additional traffic-related cases. Notably, 40 drivers received citations for driving under the influence of alcohol, and four vehicles were impounded during checks.

Ongoing crime prevention

The coordinated police operations continue daily, with increased presence, targeted inspections, and immediate intervention. The measures aim to protect citizens, uphold public order, and reinforce the sense of security throughout Cyprus.
