Police are investigating an attack against a 17-year-old in Nicosia.
According to the complaint, around midnight, while the 17-year-old was walking along a street in the Nicosia district, he was approached by two individuals who verbally abused him before physically assaulting him, hitting him in various parts of his body.
The 17-year-old visited Nicosia General Hospital, where he was found to have swelling on his face and redness on his nose.
Based on his report, police are investigating the incident as a possible homophobic assault.

Accept- LGBTI Cyprus issued a statement condemning the homophobic attack against a 17-year-old in Nicosia.
In its statement, Accept emphasised that we are living in an era where homophobia is becoming normalised, a trend that must be actively resisted.
The organisation called for solidarity with the victim and urged authorities to take immediate action to bring those responsible to justice. Accept also highlighted the need for increased awareness and education to combat hate and promote understanding.
The group concluded its statement with a powerful message: “Love is not afraid.”
