Police are investigating reports of a man allegedly posing as a police officer and demanding on-the-spot payments for fines from members of the public, including elderly residents in Larnaca.

Authorities are examining cases in Kalo Chorio, Larnaca district, where elderly people were reportedly defrauded and money was allegedly obtained from them. Investigators are also looking into whether the suspect is the same person linked to similar incidents reported in Nicosia in recent months.

Police release details of 44-year-old suspect

According to an update from the Police, the suspect is allegedly Andreas Louros, 44, whose details and photograph have been made public to assist investigations into a case involving the alleged acquisition of goods by false pretences and impersonation.

The offences under investigation are believed to have taken place between February and October 2026 in Nicosia district.

Police have urged anyone with information that could help locate the suspect to contact Nicosia CID on 22802222, their nearest police station or the Citizen’s Hotline on 1460.

Residents urged to remain vigilant

The case has also prompted a warning in Kalo Chorio, where the Community Council has published a notice on social media to alert residents and urge them to exercise particular caution.

Police are investigating whether the reported incidents in Larnaca are connected to the cases under investigation in Nicosia.
