Parliamentary elections: When results and seats are expected

Date:

The election results process in Cyprus will unfold gradually on Sunday evening and into the early hours of Monday, according to the General Returning Officer and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Elikkos Elia.

He reiterated that the announcement of the election results in Cyprus will begin once polls close at 6 pm on Sunday, provided that no voters remain in polling stations.

Counting starts immediately after polls close

Elia explained that vote counting will take place at polling stations and will begin as soon as voting ends.

Each polling station will allow up to one representative per political party to be present during the counting process.

Officials have structured the procedure so that valid votes for parties will be counted first in order to determine overall party performance.

First indication of parliamentary composition

According to Elia, the first clear picture of the election results in Cyprus will emerge between 8.30 pm and 9.00 pm.

At that stage, authorities will know which parties have secured seats in the new House of Representatives and how many MPs each party will have.

This marks a key milestone in the election results in Cyprus, offering an early projection of parliamentary balance.

MP names expected by early Monday

The counting of preferential votes for individual candidates will follow immediately after party totals are confirmed.

Elia said that by around midnight, clearer indications will already emerge regarding candidates who secured a high number of votes.

The full list of the 56 elected MPs is expected to become known by approximately 2 am on Monday.

He added that official confirmation and finalisation of results may take until 3 am to 4 am.

Finalisation of results

While preliminary election results from Cyprus will be available earlier in the night, formal ratification will require additional time for verification and certification procedures.

Officials stressed that the process is designed to ensure accuracy and transparency at every stage.
