One in three voters abstained
Cyprus voter turnout in the 2026 parliamentary elections stood at 66.4%, while abstention reached 33.6%, according to official results announced by the General Returning Officer.
A total of 378,150 voters participated out of 569,182 eligible citizens, marking a modest increase compared with the 2021 parliamentary elections.
Slight increase compared with 2021
Officials reported that the Cyprus voter turnout was up by 2.5 percentage points compared with the previous parliamentary election.
The General Returning Officer Elikkos Elia confirmed the final participation figures following the completion of voting across the island.
Overseas and special voting results
In overseas polling stations, 4,374 voters cast ballots out of 6,501 registered.
Meanwhile, in the 13 polling centres for the election of the Maronite Representative, 3,175 voters participated, representing 68.7% of registered electors.
District breakdown of Cyprus voter turnout
Regional data showed significant variation in Cyprus voter turnout across districts:
- Nicosia: 67.2% (up 4% vs 2021)
- Limassol: 61.9% (up 0.9%)
- Famagusta: 72.3% (down 0.8%)
- Larnaca: 67.3% (up 3.3%)
- Paphos: 71% (slightly up from 70.3%)
- Abroad: 67.3% (up 5.4%)
Famagusta recorded the highest participation rate, despite a slight decline compared with 2021.
Comparison with previous elections
Voter turnout varied compared with previous electoral cycles.
Participation was higher than in the 2021 parliamentary elections, but remained below presidential election levels across most districts.

Officials noted that overseas voters showed the largest increase in participation compared with 2021, highlighting a stronger mobilisation abroad.
Voting patterns also showed that presidential elections continue to attract higher turnout than both parliamentary and European elections.
