Limassol police are investigating an attack on a football coach during a K‑12 academy match and have begun taking statements from witnesses.

The incident occurred at the Kalogeropouleio Stadium, where the coach of Aris Limassol reportedly came into conflict with parents of Apollon players.

Clash during match escalates

During the game, the Aris coach allegedly addressed players from the opposing team. This led to a verbal confrontation with some parents, one of whom reportedly pushed the coach, causing him to fall to the ground.

The coach was taken to a private hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured collarbone and remained under medical care. Police are actively collecting statements to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Clubs and federation condemn violence

Aris Limassol condemned the attack and urged the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) to act within its mandate to prevent similar incidents, safeguard the physical integrity of sports professionals, and protect children’s enjoyment of the game.

The club stressed that violence in any form will not be tolerated.

CFA response

The CFA also issued a statement confirming that it is investigating the incident to clarify the facts. Any offences under the jurisdiction of the police will receive appropriate investigation, the statement added.
