The identity of a missing 78-year-old man has been confirmed by his relatives after he was found dead on Monday in a field in the eastern part of the Paphos district, near Praitori.
The man has been identified as Achilleas Michael, who had been reported missing since 8 May.
According to initial information, the elderly man had left his home to collect wild greens (“agrellia”) and did not return.
Following his disappearance, he was officially declared a missing person, prompting a large-scale search operation.
Vehicle found during search efforts
Authorities located his vehicle on Sunday, which led to intensified search operations in the area.
The search involved ground teams and drone units equipped with thermal imaging technology, deployed by the Cyprus Police.
Despite extensive efforts, he was eventually found deceased in a field.
Post-mortem to determine cause of death
The exact cause of death will be determined through a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are continuing, while authorities are treating the case as a death under examination pending forensic results.
