Police in Paphos have confirmed that a body found in a field near Praitori belongs to a 79-year-old man who had been reported missing since 8 May.
The discovery was made in an open area in the eastern part of the Paphos district, prompting a full-scale investigation by authorities.
Extensive search operations
The man had been reported missing earlier this month, with his vehicle previously located by investigators.
Search operations had been ongoing since Sunday, involving officers on foot, drones equipped with thermal imaging, an aircraft, and trained detection dogs.
Despite extensive efforts, the man was not located until Monday’s coordinated search operation.
During the latest phase of the operation, police discovered a body in an open field, bringing the search to an end.
Authorities immediately secured the scene and launched further forensic examinations to determine the circumstances of the death.
Post-mortem to determine cause of death
Police confirmed that the deceased is the 79-year-old man listed as a missing person since 8 May.
The body will be transferred for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to clarify the exact cause of death.
