Pafos FC departed for Belgrade on Monday morning, ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League play-off match against FK Crvena Zvezda, taking place tomorrow at 22:00 at the Marakana Stadium (Rajko Mitić Stadium).
The return leg will be held on 26 August at 22:00, at Cyprus’ Alphamega Stadium.
This marks a historic milestone for Pafos FC, as it is their first-ever appearance in the Champions League play-offs. They also become the fifth Cypriot team to reach this stage of the competition, following in the footsteps of Anorthosis, APOEL, AEL, and Omonia Nicosia.
The club now hopes to become just the third Cypriot team, after Anorthosis and APOEL, to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Spanish referee Alejandro Hernández has been appointed to officiate the match, with assistants José Naranjo and Diego Sánchez Rojo. The fourth official will be José Luis Munuera, with Carlos del Cerro Grande on VAR duties and Valentín Gómez as AVAR. All match officials are from Spain.
This is the first-ever meeting between the two clubs in a European competition. Crvena Zvezda have previously faced Cypriot sides nine times, recording three wins and six draws. Pafos FC, on the other hand, will be facing a Serbian team in UEFA competition for the first time.
