Arrest in fraud case

Victim’s complaint

A 49-year-old man communicates online with unknown persons. They convince him to invest money. He falls victim to fraud. Scammers take €24,440 from him.

The man files a complaint at Nicosia CID.

Further attempt and police action

Scammers contact him again later. They try to extract more money. They ask for €13,100. They claim it will release supposed investment profits.

The 49-year-old informs police.

Examinations follow. Nicosia CID members conduct an operation yesterday. They collaborate with the complainant.

Evidence emerges against the 60-year-old suspect. Police arrest him yesterday under a court warrant. He remains in custody. The case continues under investigation.
