The Gaza ceasefire agreement will come into effect on Sunday

Date:

Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani confirmed during a press conference in Doha that 33 hostages will be released during the first phase of the ceasefire implementation in Gaza, which is set to last 42 days.

According to Al Thani, the agreement is expected to be implemented on Sunday.

He stated that Hamas would release 33 Israeli captives, including women, children, elderly individuals, the sick, and the injured, in exchange for the release of multiple prisoners held in Israeli jails. Al Thani added that the details of the second and third phases would be finalised during the implementation of the first phase.

Qatar, Egypt, and the United States will oversee the agreement’s implementation through a mechanism based in Cairo. This mechanism will include a team comprising representatives from the three mediating countries.

From Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi welcomed the agreement in a post on Platform X, highlighting the importance of promptly delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
