October rainfall in Cyprus has already reached 77% of the monthly normal, according to preliminary data from the Department of Meteorology up to the morning of 6 October.
The average total rainfall recorded across the government-controlled areas since 1 October stood at 25.2mm, compared with the 32.7mm monthly normal for October.
Some areas exceed monthly average
Four measuring stations have already recorded more than 100% of their normal rainfall for the month.
Athienou recorded 47.8mm, compared with a normal October rainfall of 22.2mm, reaching 215% of the average.
The highest average rainfall was recorded at the Polis station, where 63.2mm had fallen, equivalent to 164% of the normal amount for October.
More than 100% at three other stations
Rainfall at Frenaros had reached 129% of the monthly normal, while Xylotymbou recorded 113%.
The figures come as unsettled weather continues to affect Cyprus, with the Meteorological Service warning of locally heavy rain and thunderstorms in parts of the island.
