Nicosia murder: 62-year-old confessed to killing ex-wife with iron bar

Date:

Murder committed in the presence of a third person

Investigations by the Nicosia CID are in full swing regarding the murder of a 58-year-old woman from Iran – killed with an iron bar by her former partner, who has verbally admitted to the crime. Information points to a disagreement over the residence that led to the atrocious act.

The dispute concerned whether the unfortunate 58-year-old from Iran would continue living at the home of her ex-husband in Kaimakli. This appears to have been the reason behind the appalling crime.

Police are investigating a case of premeditated murder, while society remains shocked by yet another violent crime committed against a woman by her former husband.

How the crime was committed

The 62-year-old alleged perpetrator struck the woman on the head with an iron bar, as previously reported by Cyprus Times. The blow to the head proved fatal, and the woman died on her way to hospital.

According to police sources, the 62-year-old foreign national killed his former wife following an argument, and in the presence of a third person.

It is noted that the victim had been living in her ex-husband’s house.

When questioned by members of the Nicosia CID, who arrested him, he reportedly placed himself at the crime scene and verbally confessed to killing her.

Various other claims made by the alleged perpetrator are under investigation by detectives.

The 62-year-old foreign national has been brought before the court, which issued an eight-day detention order against him.

The Nicosia CID continues to investigate the case, taking statements from people in the couple’s circle.
