YKAN arrests 22-year-old in Nicosia
Members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) arrested a 22-year-old man in Nicosia on Thursday afternoon under a court warrant.
The suspect was wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation involving the discovery of narcotics, including cannabis, cannabis resin weighing 230 grams and 40 ecstasy tablets.
Gun, ammunition and drugs seized
Following written consent, officers carried out a search of the suspect’s residence in the presence of the 22-year-old and a 19-year-old male.
During the search, police discovered and seized:
- Approximately 10 grams of cannabis
- 12 ecstasy tablets
- One pistol
- Two magazines
- 15 rounds of ammunition of various calibres
- 100 tablets containing anabolic substances
- Two mobile phones
Second suspect also arrested
The 22-year-old was rearrested in connection with the offences uncovered during the search, while YKAN officers also arrested the 19-year-old.
Both suspects are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court today for the issuance of detention orders.
Investigations are continuing by YKAN’s Nicosia unit.
