A 30-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia in connection with an investigation into alleged illegal employment and illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus.
Man found working illegally at barbershop
Police officers visited a barbershop yesterday morning to investigate information concerning illegal employment.
The 30-year-old was found working at the premises. Further checks established that he was also staying illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.
During his arrest for offences committed in the presence of police, the man pushed officers and left the premises in an attempt to escape.
Two police officers injured
He was stopped a short distance away but allegedly attacked the officers during his arrest, hitting and biting them.
Two police officers were injured and taken to Nicosia General Hospital for medical examinations.
One officer suffered a haematoma and an eye injury, while the second sustained a dislocated shoulder.
The Nicosia Central Police Station is continuing its investigation.
