The Department of Meteorology has issued a new yellow warning for thunderstorms, effective from 13:00 to 16:30 today.
“Isolated thunderstorms are expected to affect the area, mainly in the mountains and south,” the announcement states.
Locally, rainfall intensity “may exceed 35 millimetres per hour, while hail is not ruled out”.

This afternoon, the weather will be mainly cloudy with local rains and isolated thunderstorms expected, initially in the north and interior, and later mainly in the mountains and south. Hail is possible during thunderstorms. Winds will blow mainly northeast to southeast, light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily locally strong 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough.
Tonight, intermittently increased clouds are expected to give isolated rains mainly on the eastern and northern coasts. Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast, light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be up to slightly rough. The temperature will drop to around 8 degrees inland, around 10 on the coasts and to 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost will form locally.
Tomorrow the weather will be generally mainly fair. In the afternoon, locally increased clouds may give isolated light rains in the mountains. Winds will blow initially northwest to northeast and gradually mainly northeast to southeast, light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be up to slightly rough. The temperature will rise to around 18 degrees inland, around 19 on the coasts and around 8 degrees in the higher mountains.
Saturday the weather will be mainly fair.
Sunday the weather will initially be mainly fair, while from late afternoon onwards, locally increased clouds may give isolated rains or even a thunderstorm in the west. Monday expects isolated rains or even a thunderstorm.
The temperature is not expected to change significantly and will fluctuate close to average climatological values.
