New direct Cyprus–Kazakhstan flights by Air Astana

Date:

The Cyprus-Kazakhstan flight connection has officially been launched following the arrival of the first Air Astana service from Astana to Larnaca Airport, announced by Hermes Airports on Wednesday.

The new routes mark a significant development in Cyprus’ international air connectivity and strengthen links between the Republic of Cyprus and Kazakhstan.

Two routes operated weekly

According to Hermes Airports, the Astana–Larnaca route will operate twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday.

From 4 June, the airline will also introduce direct flights between Almaty and Larnaca, scheduled every Thursday and Sunday.

The Cyprus-Kazakhstan flights will be operated using Airbus A321LR aircraft and are currently planned to continue at least until September.

Flight durations and operations

The flight from Astana to Larnaca takes approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes, while the Almaty–Larnaca route lasts around 6 hours and 5 minutes.

The service provides a new direct link between Cyprus and two of Kazakhstan’s largest cities, improving accessibility for both tourism and business travel.

Link to official visit

The inaugural flight from Larnaca to Kazakhstan also carried the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, along with members of the Council of Ministers, as part of the first official presidential visit to Kazakhstan.

Positive outlook for connectivity

Hermes Airports Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communications, Maria Kouroupi, described the launch of the Cyprus-Kazakhstan flights as a highly positive development for the island’s connectivity.

She said the direct connection with Astana and Almaty represents another important step in strengthening Cyprus’ aviation links and opens new prospects for tourism growth and bilateral relations.
