The municipality of Athens is taking emergency measures from 15:00 on Wednesday, and for as long as necessary, due to the low temperatures that will prevail in the coming days, according to the forecasts of the National Meteorological Service.
Specifically, the Friendship Club of Agios Eleftherios opens (Acharnon 372) will open to provide safe accommodation, food and basic care services. The street work teams of the Directorate of Social Solidarity of the Municipality of Athens will offer protection to the homeless. They will offer hot tea, food, clothing and blankets to the homeless. The dormitory of the Multipurpose Center for the Homeless, on Acharnon and Liosion streets will accomodate those who wish it.
The Municipality of Athens invites any citizen who spots someone living on the street to call the K.Y.A.D.A. telephone center. (0030) 210-5246515/6 (ext. 0), providing information with the exact location so that street work teams can intervene immediately. Reports on places where homeless people are found can also be made to the four-digit number 1595 (fee depending on the provider).
