A meeting was held at 10:30 AM at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEBE), where trade associations will brief the Chamber’s leadership on their positions regarding the e-Kalathi platform. This follows the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry’s goal to launch the electronic application by December 20 at the latest.
Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), KEBE Secretary General Marios Tsiakkis stated that during the meeting, which will also be attended by Chamber President Stavros Stavrou, representatives of product importers, supermarkets, and retail trade associations will share their “concerns and opinions on this matter.”
“We will listen to them to form a clearer perspective on e-Kalathi,” he added.
In November, Minister of Commerce George Papanastasiou announced that e-Kalathi would be operational before the Christmas holidays.
Responding to a related question, Mr. Papanastasiou stated that the process is nearing completion. “We hope to launch it before the Christmas shopping season,” he said, noting that the platform will operate in a pilot phase for 15 to 20 days to address any issues that may arise.
The Ministry’s Consumer Protection Service considers e-Kalathi an important tool for improving market transparency, as it will provide consumers with daily updates on the prices of essential household products.
