Maria Loui on Vafeadis: Styliani was killed due to his inaction

Date:

The remarks and the measures announced by the Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafeadis, have sparked the outrage of Maria Loui, mother of Kyriakos Oxinos.

As she states in her post:
“For 18 months he did nothing, and our Styliani, only 19 years old, was killed due to his inaction and inadequacy.”

Her post in full:

Far too late the current Minister of Transport remembered to act…

27 months as Minister of Transport with 1 death on his record and alarm bells ringing — Danger to Life

He turned a blind eye… Too late…

Inaction, inadequacy, idleness, incompetence, lack of empathy, self-awareness and self-criticism…

We personally want neither his apologies, nor his sympathy, nor his recognition of our efforts aimed at preventing further loss of life…

Failure on his part, as for 18 months he did nothing, and our Styliani was killed at 19 years old because of his inaction and inadequacy…

And now he will convene an Extraordinary Road Safety Council???… 27 months with 4 reports — why didn’t he convene one earlier??? He thought of it too late…

He urges drivers of TAKATA vehicles not to drive them… In February 2025, he urged them to drive at their own risk…

The current Minister of Transport bears grave responsibility and his statements provoke our outrage… Even a bit of self-criticism and decency wouldn’t hurt… At the very least, he should admit his irresponsibility and incompetence… A life has been lost during his tenure — Styliani’s — and he was Minister for 18 months… He chose to bury his head in the sand…
