Man in rage damages shops on Ledras Street, threatens officer

An arrest was made in Ledra Street late on Monday afternoon after a man caused damage at the entrance of a department store and created a disturbance.

According to police, the incident occurred when the individual, a foreign national, was seen acting aggressively and damaging property outside the shop.

Police identified suspect via CCTV

A police officer responded to the scene and identified the suspect using footage from a closed-circuit surveillance system installed in the area.

When the officer approached and attempted to engage with the man, the situation escalated.

The suspect allegedly became hostile, picked up a cone base and threatened to hit the officer.

The officer managed to restrain the man and proceeded with an on-the-spot arrest for a flagrant offence. Police said the incident was brought under control without further escalation.

Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
