Man arrested in Cyprus over €12,000 illegal immigration scheme

Date:

The Police are investigating a case involving the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery, circulation of a forged document, obtaining property by false pretences, and assisting illegal entry, transit, and residence in the Republic, which were committed between November 2024 and March 2025.

According to the complaint submitted to the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a 33-year-old woman paid a total sum of €12,000 for the purpose of arranging her illegal transfer from abroad to Cyprus.

Among the individuals to whom she paid money was a 50-year-old man, who allegedly showed her forged passports of another European country, attempting to convince her that she would later be able to travel to a specific European country.

A court warrant was issued against the 50-year-old, under which he was arrested shortly after midnight and taken into custody.

The Limassol CID continues its investigations.
