Cyprus will enjoy mainly clear weather today, though periods of increased high cloud are expected. Weak high pressure is temporarily affecting the area, while a weak low-pressure system is expected to move in gradually from tomorrow.
Winds will blow northeast to southeast and, in the island’s southwest and west, southwest to northwest — light at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Seas will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 28°C inland and on the southern and eastern coasts, about 26°C on the western and northern coasts, and 20°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, periods of medium and high cloud are expected, and an isolated light shower cannot be ruled out. Winds will turn katabatic and remain light, around 3 Beaufort, while the sea will stay calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will fall to around 16°C inland, 18°C along the coast, and 12°C in the higher mountains.
On Tuesday, clouds will increase at times, bringing isolated showers mainly in the mountains, the east and inland areas during the afternoon.
By Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will turn mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, while temperatures will gradually fall, reaching or slightly dropping below the seasonal average.
