Cyprus weather today will be mostly clear, although periods of increased high cloud are expected across the island.
Winds will blow from the northeast to southeast, weak at 3 Beaufort and occasionally moderate at 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight.
Temperatures will rise to around 24°C inland, near 22°C along the coast, and 17°C in higher mountainous areas, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Dust in the atmosphere
A weak high-pressure system is affecting the region, while low pressure is expected to move in from Thursday.
Dust will be suspended in the atmosphere, with concentrations at times likely to increase, potentially affecting air quality.
Conditions tonight
Tonight, the weather will become partly cloudy, with medium and high cloud cover.
Winds will shift to mainly northwesterly to northeasterly, remaining weak at 3 Beaufort and occasionally reaching moderate levels, particularly in windward areas. The sea will remain slight.
Temperatures will drop to 12°C inland, around 14°C along the coast, and 10°C in the higher mountains.
Warmer midweek, rain possible Friday
On Wednesday and Thursday, conditions will remain partly cloudy at intervals due to medium and high cloud.
Temperatures are expected to gradually increase, rising above seasonal averages.
By Friday, the weather will turn locally mostly cloudy, with isolated showers expected and a chance of thunderstorms. A slight drop in temperature is also forecast.
