Limassol worker left in critical condition after a fall

Date:

A Limassol worker has been left in critical condition after a fall at a construction site, with authorities now investigating the incident as a possible workplace accident.

The fall occurred on Thursday evening at around 18:40, when fire services in Limassol responded to reports that a foreign worker had plunged approximately six metres from an under-construction residential building. The man is believed to have landed on a protruding ground-floor roof ledge.

Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said firefighters reached the injured worker, stabilised him, placed him in a rescue stretcher and handed him over to the Ambulance Service for transfer to the Emergency Department of Limassol General Hospital.

Police later took over the scene and informed a Labour Inspection officer to determine whether the fall constitutes a workplace accident.

The injured man was subsequently transferred to a private clinic, where he remains in critical condition with multiple fractures.
