Limassol: Tip-off from detective uncovered father abusing his child

A detective from the United States identified a father who is alleged to have been abusing his child, the police press office spokesperson, Marina Christodoulou, stated on the programme Mesimeri kai Kati.

Specifically, last Sunday members of the Cybercrime Unit proceeded with the arrest of a 45-year-old permanent resident of Limassol, following the assessment of specific information.

The 45-year-old’s arrest was carried out on the basis of a court warrant. A search took place at his home, where computers and mobile phones were located and seized.

Offences are being investigated against him relating to child sexual abuse and the acquisition and/or possession of child sexual abuse material.

The 45-year-old was brought before a court, which ordered his seven-day remand.
