A Limassol road accident left a father and his two minor children injured on Thursday, after the driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle while travelling in the district.
According to Cyprus Police, the incident occurred on Ellados Street in Limassol, when a 41-year-old man driving a saloon car said he felt dizzy and lost control of the vehicle while heading south.
Vehicle struck parked car and wall
Police said the car veered to the left, initially colliding with a parked vehicle before crashing into a wall, where it came to a stop.
The 41-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution. He was later discharged.
Seven-year-old in intensive care
The man’s two children were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. A 13-year-old boy, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered minor injuries.
A seven-year-old girl, who was seated in the back, was initially taken to hospital, where doctors determined that she had suffered a fractured arm, an organ rupture and internal bleeding.
The child was subsequently transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of Makarios Hospital, where she is being treated. Police said she remains hospitalised but out of danger.
Seatbelt use under investigation
Traffic police are investigating whether the two minors were wearing seatbelts and whether the appropriate child safety seats were used at the time of the collision.
