Limassol motorbike accident leaves teen in critical condition

Police are investigating the circumstances of a Limassol motorbike accident that left a 17-year-old rider in critical condition overnight.

The collision occurred 30 minutes after midnight, when the teenager was riding a 149cc motorcycle along Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue in Limassol. As he reached the traffic light-controlled junction with Petrou Tsirou Street, his bike collided- under circumstances still under investigation- with a car driven by a 31-year-old man travelling on Petrou Tsirou Street.

Police officers arrived quickly at the scene, and the injured rider was taken by ambulance to hospital. Medical examinations revealed he had sustained a severe traumatic brain injury with bleeding. According to his doctors, his condition remains critical.

The Limassol Traffic Department is continuing its inquiries to determine the exact cause of the Limassol motorbike accident.
