Limassol: Drunk 40-year-old woman insults and bites police officer

Police in Limassol are investigating a case involving alleged intoxication, assault and public verbal abuse of an officer.

According to police, information was received at around 9:40 am regarding a woman reportedly in an intoxicated state standing in the middle of a road.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a woman showing visible signs of intoxication sitting on the pavement with her legs extending into the roadway.

Officer allegedly attacked at station

Police said the woman appeared disoriented when approached and was taken to a police station for identification procedures.

Authorities stated that while at the station, the 40-year-old allegedly began shouting and verbally abusing officers in English.

During attempts by officers to calm her down, she allegedly attacked a police officer, pushing him and biting him on the hand.

Suspect arrested

The 40-year-old was arrested and taken into custody.

The police officer involved was examined by a doctor and was found not to have sustained serious injuries.
